ST EDMUND'S TERRACE, LONDON
Located on the leafy periphery of Primrose Hill, St. Edmund's Terrace is a new landmark property, comprising 41 apartments across 3 main residences. Outline Planning permission was granted 2011.
Landscape proposals include the gated arrival, driveway, street frontage and a smaller private residence located within the grounds. However, a key feature will be two 280m2 linear ornamental courtyards located between each of the residences, providing a green outlook and filtered screen for residents. Multi-stemmed trees will frame broad channels of gently flowing water, terminated by dramatic feature walls to the north and stepped cascades to the south, which will generate a soothing background noise on the main driveway.
The design is sympathetic to the regency style of the St. John's Wood neighbourhood and is sensitive to the mature and established parkland setting surrounding the site. Traditional Georgian design philosophies are translated into clean and contemporary courtyards, with elegant formality and symmetry. Building on the Royal Parks guidelines, the proposals take measures to safeguard locally specific biodiversity, including planting native trees to maintain bat corridors and acid grassland green roofs to each of the new buildings.
