WINDROSE, MOSCOW, RUSSIA

For this landmark enterprise headquarters in the centre of Moscow, we created a romantic landscape built around the idea of rural Russian life, a way of life now fading as Russians migrate to the capital. Rings of winding footpaths symbolise memory; enclosed retaining walls represent sanctuary; all forms are fused together amid crisp, modern lines.

The design had to work in the city's formidable climate and sit directly above a car park roof-deck. We directed heat from the underground basement into the planted areas, and utilised native, hardy stock to create an enduring, elegant design.
